LA-based VFX studio Saffronic has hired an Executive Creative Director…Animation specialist Kevin J. Johnson has landed the role at the company, which launched last year and has been following a global expansion strategy since then.

Founded in 2022 by industry veterans Tim Sarnoff and Vince Pizzica, Saffronic has been busy with projects such as Gabby’s Dollhouse, Barbie Doll Adventures, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous and Dragons: The Nine Realms. With established hubs in Chennai and Bengaluru, the company continues to push boundaries in the realm of animation and creative technology.

Saffronic studio director Prabhakar Sambandan believes that AI can catalyse animation processes but “IP and legal issues are the downsides of AI that need to be considered.”

Animation production studio Saffronic has appointed Bhanu Prakash as Head of Creative, Games, to lead the company’s expansion into art and animation services for the gaming industry.

Fairly young Chennai-based studio Saffronic delivered the first season of Gabby’s Dollhouse for DreamWorks and its first short feature for Trioscope this year. The studio has some projects coming up in collaboration with Trioscope, Mindshow and WildBrain.

The digital marketing veteran will spearhead long-term growth strategies for the VFX studio as it aims to meet a growing demand for animation services.

Based in the Indian city of Chennai, Saffronic is a young animation studio led by industry veterans Prabhakar Sambandan and Kumar Chandrasekaran, which embarked on its operations in June 2022.

Saffronic, an emerging leader in the animation and games space has begun its global expansion with the hire of Los Angeles-based Kristy Scanlan as Senior Vice President of Business Development.

The animation industry is growing exponentially. In 2022 its estimated global worth was around USD 400 billion, and it is forecasted to grow rapidly. This year-on-year growth means that demand for animation services is increasing and opening up opportunities for new players in the market.

Being one of the largest global animation markets, the event sure was very knowledgeable where we met a lot of industry leaders who are driving trends and change.

On the joyous occasion of National Girl Child Day, we had the privilege to collaborate with the Tech Mahindra Foundation and visit the CSI School for the Deaf.
